Ruta de los 99

The Route of the 99 is a route that was created throughout the country to encourage visitors to visit towns with less than 100 inhabitants. 5 of these towns can be found throughout the Espadán-Mijares municipality group, which keep their charm between the silence, disconnection and peace that can be breathed walking through their streets. You will get a credential for each town you visit. Are you ready to discover these small charming towns?

Día de naturaleza en Espadilla

The town of Espadilla, with the river Mijares at its feet, is a perfect place to enjoy the crystal clear waters that will allow you to spend a refreshing morning in the natural pool of the narrow Chico river. After bathing, you can also visit its botanical garden where you will find a great diversity of trees and shrubs, and it also has different trails where you can discover caves such as Corral Blanco, Morrón, Ereta or El Río Pequeño.

Día cultural en Tales

A morning stroll through the symbolic village of Tales will take you to its enigmatic cultural tradition of Dolçainers and Tabaleters (traditional Valencian band). Among its streets you will find a cultural tour from El Portalet, passing through its streets of Arab origin to its Ethnological Museum. Nor can you forget to visit its 12th century castle, which served as a strategic point of defence.

Navidad en Sueras ''Un poble al carrer''

Over Christmas, Sueras celebrates “Un poble al Carrer”, a festival that tries to commemorate the ancient customs and traditions of the town. This ethnological exhibition, where the inhabitants take to the streets and set up different stalls, serves to honour the memory of their ancestors and ensure that those customs and traditions are not lost through history.

Sobre ruedas descubriendo Espadán-Mijares

Discover an adventure on wheels with your family in one of the most beautiful areas of the Valencian Community. This motor home route that we propose along the Sierra de Espadán allows you to discover different natural landscapes, as well as the towns of Aín, Ribesalbes, Sueras, Argelita and Ayódar. Places with a unique charm and where you can enjoy different activities and experiences with your family, such as kayaking, visiting the Pozo Negro, tasting its rich gastronomy or enjoying a picnic day at the foot of the Mijares River.

La cerámica de Ribesalbes

The ceramics of Ribesalbes are one of the key points hidden in this municipality of the Sierra de Espadán. Through the various workshops that are located in the town, you can go shopping at stores such as J. Albalat Artistic Ceramics. Another of the key points to visit is its Casa de la Baronía, where numerous pieces of ceramic art and one of the most impressive collections in Europe are hidden. We also recommend that you try its traditional almond cake, which you can buy from one of the local bakeries.

Día Mágico en el Pou Negre

Around 3 kilometres from Fuentes de Ayódar is El Pozo Negro, one of the most beautiful and symbolic places in the Sierra de Espadán. This 3-metre deep pool will allow you to spend a refreshing day with friends or family. You will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful natural spots in the Valencian Community.

Un paseo por el Arte Urbano de Fanzara

The Castellón municipality of Fanzara, located in Alto Mijares, is an open-air urban art museum where you can lose yourself. With this day visit, which you can do with your family, friends or partner, you will immerse yourself in an authentic urban art walk through its streets and most symbolic buildings. We recommend eating in one of the local bars at the end of the visit or buying typical products at the Kimi Bakery. You will also be able to taste its rich gastronomy and its most symbolic dish, the “Olla de Col” (cabbage stew). You can also buy typical local products such as sausages at Pastor Butchers.
